Weekly Review

It's normally at this time that I tell you that oh this was another boring humdrum week nothing important happened and show you a couple videos after tell you what I did on the weekend and even occasionally that would be boring as well.  Well not this week.  Nope definitely not a boring week.  Work was anything but the same old same old.  I joined the smart phone crowd and I didn't do crap but yard work on the weekend.

Monday night at work was normal.  Tuesday night about 4am rolls around and pop goes the power.  A substation shutdown sending the entire area into a dark silent night.  In a hotel with few lights on and complete darkness makes for a pretty creepy setting.  Thankfully I had every thing done by that time so I only had to run around and make sure everything was OK and people if they needed anything were helped.  Thankfully it didn't affect many people.

Coming away from that I thought OK that was weird and makes for an interesting night at work.  I wasn't prepared though for Wednesday night though.  At 4am again sure enough the freaking building's fire alarm goes off and in a big way.  I look at the alarm panel to see what's happening and it says something about the dry system alarm and Look in the back and sure enough water is spraying all over the place.  So that's what I thought it was a burst pipe no big problem just tell me how to turn off the alarm.  Fire department rolls in and says...nope water is flowing some where get the people out of their rooms and at least into the lobby in case there is an actual fire.  Thankfully there wasn't any fire or water really flowing into the hotel.  The dry sprinkler system (pipes that stay empty in cold places so they don't freeze) had just filled with water.  It took even the Fire Marshall a bit to figure out how to turn off the alarm (two tiny little switches) and we got all the guests back to their rooms and things quieted down again.  Had to deal with the now flooded back room (took me a while to find the one remaining shutoff valve that wasn't closed).

So yeah that was a way more stressful day than I've had in a while and hopefully I wont have another one again for a long time to come.  Thankfully Thursday and Friday went off without any crazy events so that was good.  We still have some phone issues but they are not very big issues.  I'm surprised how many people after being told to that the fire department wants them down in the lobby flat out decided not to come down or asked something like, "is there really a fire?" and of course it was not cool to hear that some people didn't even hear the alarm at all.

So in the middle of all that going on at work my Cricket cellphone decided to finally take a shit and I started looking around for a replacement and decided after looking at all the options to drop Cricket in favor of switching to Virgin Mobile to save some money and still be able to join the smart phone revolution.  I picked up a LG Optimus V and almost straight away got Angry Birds I know I know huge time waster but hey it's fun and yeah it kills time as I also had to drive my roommate to work as he was getting his brakes replaced on his daily driver and only had to go to work for an hour so I killed time playing Angry Birds and walking around BSU campus for a little bit.  I love the new phone the cheaper plan (woot saving $10) and I have insurance for the phone.

The weekend I just slept, blogged and did some yard work.  I both hated this weekend and enjoyed this weekend.  And now for those videos.

This week the Toyota GT86/Subaru BRZ/Scion FR-S was unveiled with a ton of videos as the media jumped at the chance to drive the car around the track.  I love the BRZ Super GT GT300 car by the way.

Bikinistokyo may only have a few videos uploaded but I can't help watching them.  I really do love Kotona but this isn't her.

Holy hell 4chan actually delivered something actually cool.  I haven't watched the whole thing but it's definitely worth checking out though.
