Welcome to the Biography page, my name is Greg Myers and I'm the author of the Hillbilly Otaku blog. I've been blogging since 2009 and during that time I have learned a great deal about blogging and have made my fair share of mistakes along the way. But I've also enjoyed my time blogging as well.
I started the Hillbilly Otaku blog to share my passion of anime, cars, guns and other things but over time I moved the car related stuff to it's own blog for a more professional look on that end. And the guns well I just haven't been doing much with them at the moment either so now the blog has become more about anime, foxy Asians and my weekly review which seems to pretty much the same old same old week after week. I just need to get back into the rhythm of posting more anime reviews.
A little bit more about me. I'm a college graduate but I'm one of those who graduated with a pretty much useless degree in Media Studies which hasn't really served me all that well in a very competitive career field were experience and talent out weight a single piece of paper. I still do photography and some graphic design and have transitioned to even videography as well. Currently it is only automotive related stuff as I hit up various car shows and autocross events though out the year but I'm planning on working on some other things as well.
You can find my work on Flickr and YouTube and of course on my automotive related blog as well.
It's my interest in anime and Japanese culture in general that really got this blog started. That interest started when I was in college and my first roommate introduced me to Japanese Animation after he found out that I liked to watch cartoons. I was hooked almost immediately and started picking up what VHS tapes and DVDs that I could. It wasn't until I found 4chan and discovered the anime Gurren Lagann that I started to watch downloaded fansubs and after that it just took off and here we are today.
It's been an interesting ride so far and I'm looking forward to continuing with the blog and watching anime as long as I can. Thank you for taking the time to read this biography.
